NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF FRP REINFORCED FRAMES UNDER CYCLIC LOADING

In this research, three models of beam-column joint have analyzed under reversed cyclic loading by finite element method using ANSYS software. The first model was designed with a steel-reinforced (longitudinal reinforcement and stirrups), the second performed (GFRP) -reinforced in longitudinal only third (CFRP) only. behaviour loading, their load-storey drift envelope relationship energy dissipation capacity were compared. GFRP-reinforced CFRP-reinforced displayed predominantly elastic activity up to failure, although for GFRP CFRP low, its performance terms total storey demand satisfactory. reinforcement's low elasticity modulus caused decrease overall stiffness at service stage, resulting obtaining converging ratios same time lower forces from acting earthquake loading.
